Dear Parker.

(I apologize to you now Parker for using this picture. I had no choice, look at that cute bum)

Dear Parker,

Breathe. In a few hours we will be taking a "new" adventure.  This particular one will change our family forever. It will bring on different challenges and frustration, but we mustn't give up, no matter how hard or tiring we may feel.  This is your journey. We will be with you as much as we can, but there will be times you will have to stand alone.  Your NOT alone, ever. Ask questions, listen for answers. They will be there.

Parker, to begin this adventure some nice doctors will take you away from us.  Don't be afraid. Close your eyes and think of all the fun things we have done together these past 2 years.  Trips to far off lands, some real, some in our imagination.  Remember the time we played Hide and Seek with Buzz? He wasn't too good at it. Or remember when we went to "This isn't really Disney, Mickey traveling Circus/Freak show Compromise"  that was fun! The nice doctors will give you some yummy medicine to help you fall asleep.  Dream. Go places, visit people. It will be over in a twinkling of an eye. When you wake, you may feel a little nauseous, maybe not but try not to throw up on the nurses.  Dad and I will be with you soon.

Remember Parker, this is only the beginning of our adventure.  But the beginning is the most important because it means we have started.  Stay strong. Dad and I love you soooo much! Endure to the End.

Love,
Mom

Brooke, you may be young, but I think every mom out there can learn something from you. Levi & I have been praying for you. I told him all about you, your husband, and "Parkie." We're both so excited for your family and all the changes that are coming your way. You guys will be in my heart, thoughts, and prayers all day tomorrow. I hope everything goes as smoothly and perfectly as possible.

Big huge hugs!!

I really am excited that my little Grandson will start the journey towards hearing the world around him. What a blessing!

When Christ said, "He who has ears to hear, let him hear", He was not referring to those two appendages dangling on either side of our head. He was talking about a different kind of listening, an awakened attentiveness that can only come from the heart, the spirit, the soul.

This connection, this speaking and listening "Spirit to Spirit" is something Parker has learned in the profound silence of his little life over the last two years. What a gift to bring into the realm of worldly hearing! How lucky you and Bobby are to have gone through this with him!

This spirituaal connection of the heart, will help you so much as Parker struggles to gain his new sense. Rely on your love for each other, love that has never needed words or ears in the past, and you will get through this next year with peace and fulfillment.

I love you all, Bobby, Brooke and Parker. (Graaannnpaaaw)
